The
Decatur Township Fire Department provides public safety
services to approximately forty thousand township
residents, in a thirty-three square mile area. In
providing these services, Decatur Township Firefighters
and Paramedics respond to over six thousand emergency
runs each year.
The department is staffed with 70 career
firefighters, emt's and paramedics. These members are
also supported by a reserve staff of 13 that work along
side all career personnel that respond from
three stations distributed throughout the township.
Emergency apparatus includes three front line fire
engines, one ladder, three ambulances, a tanker truck
and various other support and reserve vehicles.
Department personnel are supported by a staff consisting
of a fire chief, two deputy chiefs, three battalion
chiefs and one
administrative assistant, at our headquarters in the
Decatur Township Government Center located at 5410 S.
High School Rd.
In addition to emergency response, the department is
very active in numerous public education and community
service events throughout the township. We take great
pride in being able to reach all school age children in
the township with fire safety talks at least one time
each year.
